ABOUT US
The idea for our own hometown ukulele group originated when one of our founders Barbara Warren, while on vacation joined the newly formed Monterey Ukulele Club. On her return home she gathered two friends to join her in founding our Thousand Oaks club. It didn't take much - fifteen people showed up at our first meeting in July 2010, and twenty five players came to the second session. Since that time our member list has grown to over 60 names!
We are proud of our successful format: each person is called upon to select their special song for us to play - even if they are a beginner. We all play and sing along together and the variety would surprise you! We sing from The Daily Ukelele Songbook by Jim Beloff, a book of 363 songs and our own Club Songbook which now contains over 70 songs. There is a song for everyone!
The Happy Little Ukulele Club is based on the premise that people new to the ukulele can learn faster when playing with a group. We have a lot of fun and there are always willing members to help new people and share information.
Nancy Tamarin handles the advertising and acts as the welcoming committee and Barbara Warren prepares the Club Songbook and helps to lead the sing-alongs.
Come join us and join in the fun!
